WINTER SOLSTICE

Meditation on the Flame

Set the Space: Sit on a sheepskin, on a wool carpet or on wood. These materials help balance your electromagnetic field during the meditation. Cover your back and spine with a light meditation shawl or blanket. During this meditation, it is common to experience the temperature of the body suddenly drop. The shawl keeps the spine warm.

Place a candle flame at the height of the root of your nose, the third-eye point. Set the flame at a distance of 7 feet from you. Sit in easy pose or lotus pose. Put both hands in gyan mudra (index fingers and thumbs touch) relaxed over the knees with the elbows straight and sit with the spine straight.

Meditation: Open the eyes wide. Then close the lower and upper eyelids about equally. This is called "snake-eyes". If the eyelids are in the correct position it will seem easy to lock them open without blinking. Focus on the flame. See the area just under the hottest part where there seems to be a dark spot.

Let your breath become very light, long and meditative. The flame will seem to become multi-dimensional. The nerves will adjust and the gaze will become steady. At that point the flame will "talk to you". It will impart intuitions and thought as the mind clears itself.

As you continue to gaze, mentally bring the flame to the third eye point. Feel and visualize it burning and shining there. Then take the mental flame to a distance behind the head equal to the distance the physical flame is in front of the head. Imagine the light and the heat from that location. This practice will open the intuition and the third eye. Continue this meditation for 6 to 31 minutes.

Part II: Inhale deeply, close the eyelids and put the image of the flame at the brow point. Concentrate on that image. Let the breath relax and continue to meditate at the brow point for 3 minutes. Then relax completely.

Full Moon in Libra
Create Harmony, Balance & Reduce Stress

The Yogic Science of the nostrils called Swara Yoga. When one nostril is dominant, the opposite hemisphere of the brain dominates the mind. Stress, nervous breakdowns and disease are said to be avoided through mastery of the nostrils.

The Practice:

In a meditative seat, sit tall and interlace your fingers with the right thumb resting over the left thumb. Place the palms against the body at the line of the diaphragm. With eyes closed, concentrate on your breath in the nostrils. Notice and be aware of which nostril is more dominate. You should notice within 3 minutes.

Then start to change which nostril is more dominate through only your awareness. Go back and forth from left and right spending about 1 minute on each side. Continue 5-31 minutes.

Rebirthing Meditation

Sit in Easy Pose with a straight spine. Bring the hands up and interlace the fingers, pressing the palms into the body over the heart. Forearms are parallel to the ground, sticking out like wings.

Part 1: Purse the lips and breathe through the mouth. Inhale powerfully and fast with such a force that the cheeks are sucked in to the teeth. Put all the power into the inhale, but keep the exhale short too, about a 1.5 second inhale and 1.5 second exhale. Continue for 2 minutes, then inhale and hold the breath briefly.

Part 2: Begin the breath again and concentrate on the third eye and imagine yourself as a candle flame, burning away your limited ego, all dirt, the past, and all negative subconscious programming. Just be positive and imagine the positive thought of yourself burning away all fear, anger, and sadness in the candlelight. Continue for 3 minutes. On the final inhale, hold the breath and bring in a very pure, positive thought. Then sit quietly in a totally neutral space that expands into Infinity. Enjoy feeling clear, light, and pure.

Take time after to relax and return to normal.

COMMENTS: The panting breathing through the mouth works on the upper chest and lungs and clears emotional blocks. Rebirthing uses this breath to get in touch with emotional issues so they can come to light and be released.

Quick Fix - Mind Tranquilizer - 3 Minutes

Sit in easy pose with a straight spine. With the elbows bent, bring the hands up and in until they meet in front of the body at the level of the heart. The elbows should be held up almost at the level of the hands. Bend the index fingers of each hand in toward the palm. Join them with each other so they press together along the second joint. The middle fingers are extended and meet at the fingertips. The other fingers are curled into the hand. The thumbs meet at the fingertips (a). Hold the mudra about 4inches from the body with the extended fingers pointing away from the body (b).

Focus on the tip of your nose. Inhale completely and hold the breath in while mentally repeating the mantra of your choice (SAT NAM or WAHAY GURU would be fine) 11-21 times.

Then exhale, hold the breath out, and repeat the mantra an equal numberoftimes. Continue this practice for 3 minutes.

Comments: This meditation can tranquilize the mind in 3 minutes. The hand position is called "the mudra which pleases the mind." Buddha is said to have given it to his disciples for control of the mind.

Lunar Eclipse in Pisces

Four Stroke Breath to Build Intuition

Place your hands together in Prayer Mudra. Keep the Jupiter (index) fingers extended as you interlock the other finger.

Make your eyes nine-tenths closed. Place the mudra a little below your nose where you can look at the tips of your Jupiter fingers through the one-tenth opening of your eyes. Inhale in four powerful strokes through the "O" mouth (1 stroke per second = 4 second inhale) and exhale in one powerful stroke through the nose (1 second).

Time: 16 Minutes

To Finish: Sit straight, inhale, hold your breath 20 seconds, and stretch your arms out to your sides, palms facing upward. That will give you power to balance your central spinal column. Exhale. Inhale deep, hold your breath 20 seconds, and stretch your arms horizontally and stretch your spine vertically. Make a T-square. Exhale. Inhale deep, hold your breath 20 seconds, and open up your fingers, making them like steel. Squeeze your entire energy and bring it into your arms. Exhale and relax.

Comments: “You must know reality by intuition. Not by knowledge. By the time knowledge becomes reality it’s too late.

Fall Equinox

Liberated Heart Meditation

Sit in an Easy Pose, with a light jalandhar bandh Mudra: Raise the hands up in front of the face with the palms facing forward. Curl the fingers so that the fingertips press onto the mounds at the base of the fingers. Extend the thumbs out from the hands and press the thumb tips together. The thumbs form a little arc at the level of the lips. The elbows are relaxed, down by the sides of the chest. The hands are held 6 to 8 inches (15-20 cm) in front of the face.

Eyes: The focus is on the tips of the thumbs.

Breath: Begin to inhale completely in 8 equal strokes. Then exhale in 8 equal strokes. One entire breath cycle (16 strokes) takes about 10 seconds. The only mantra for this meditation is the sound of the breath itself.

Time: Continue for 11-31 minutes. To End: Inhale deeply, hold the breath as long as comfortable, then exhale. Inhale again and stretch the hands upward. Pull up on the spine as you open and closethe fists. Exhale. Repeat the last breath again. Relax

Comments: Comments: The tips of the thumbs touch to form the arched look of the swan's neck. This represents inner grace and the dominance of the neutral mind and the sattva guna. You observe all that happens with no anger or enmity. The absence of these reactions makes all the energy of prana available to the direction of the mind. The mind has joined with its prana. Concentrate on the rhythm of the breath. The 8:8 rhythm will work on the connection between the Heart Chakra and the immune system. The hand position will give you strength. This is not a beginner's meditation. It should be practiced with respect, and the time should be increased slowly, as your nerves adjust to the psychosomatic changes the meditation initiates.

Meditation for the Arcline
and to Clear the Karmas

Sit in Easy Pose with the spine straight and the eyes closed. Relax the elbows down by the sides, and bring the forearms straight out in front of your body, palms slightly cupped and facing up a few inches above the knees.

Bring the arms up, back behind head, stretching the hands and arms as far back over the shoulders as you can. Imagine scooping water, and throwing it over your shoulders with a flick of the wrists. Make the movement smooth and graceful coordinating with rhythm of the music.

Chant the Mantra Wahe Guru, Wahe Guru, Wahe Guru, Wahe Jio. On each "Wa-hay Guroo," as well as on the "Wa-hay Jeeo," do one complete round—scooping up, throwing over your shoulders, and come back to the starting position.

Continue 11-31 minutes.

This meditation clears the Arcline that arches overhead from ear to ear. The Arcline can hold energy of past relationships and Karmas.

Sat Kriya

Sit in Rock Pose: knees bent and together sits bones sitting on heels.

Reach the arms over the head with elbows straight. Interlace all the fingers except the index fingers. Traditionally men or male-identifying people cross the right thumb over the left, and women or female-identifying folks cross the left over right. Use whichever configuration feels right for you. Arms reach up straight up so the biceps come by the ears. Eyes are closed focusing at the point between to the two eyebrows.

Begin to chant "Sat, Naam" with a constant rhythm of about 8 times per 10 seconds. As you pull the navel in and up toward the spine, chant "Sat" from the Navel Point. Feel it as a pressure from the Third Chakra.

With the sound "Naam," relax the belly. The focus of the sound Naam at the Brow Point. As you continue in a steady rhythm, the root and diaphragm locks are automatically pulled.

The spine stays still and straight. This is neither a spinal flex nor a pelvic thrust. Remain firmly seated on the heels throughout the motions of the kriya.

BANDHU DYA KRIYA

Meditation for Developing Your Human Kindness

For extra potency, practice this within 48 hours before or after the alignment of the Full Moon in Virgo on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 5:40AM MST

Tune In: Chant “Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo” x 3

Sit in Easy Pose with your spine straight, chin in and chest lifted. Place your hands in the mudra.

Mudra: Rest your elbows alongside your rib cage. Place your hands in front of your chest, palms facing upward, with the two Mercury (pinkie) fingers touching and the outside part of the base of the palms touching. Keep the Sun (ring) fingers and the Jupiter (index) fingers straight and the thumbs pulled back. Touch the tips of the Saturn (middle) fingers so that they form a triangle. The mudra is held before the heart center in a comfortable, prayerful position, but it does not touch the chest.

Breath: Inhale through the nose in eight strokes (break the inhalation into eight equal segments with a slight pause separating each part so that there is a distinct beginning and end to each segment. In other words, you are inhaling in eight separate "sniffs." Each stroke is about one "nose length." You can feel the breath travel the length of the nose from the nostrils to the eyebrows. Each count of a stroke is about one second, so the eight stroke inhalation takes about eight seconds). Exhale completely and totally with a whistle through the puckered lips.

Breath of Fire with Lion’s Paws
Reset the Brain’s Electromagnetic Field

For extra potency, practice this within 48 hours before or after the alignment of the Full Moon in Leo on Sunday, February 5th 11:28AM MST

Tune In: Chant “Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo” x 3

Sitting make both hands into Lion’s Paws: curl and tighten the fingers of each hand. Keep the tension in the hands throughout the exercise. Start with both arms out to the sides, parallel to the ground with the palms up. Then bring both arms up over the head so that the hands pass each other over the crown of the head. The elbows bend and the palms face down. Then bring the hands back down as you extend the arms out parallel to the ground again. Alternate which wrist is in front when they cross by each other over the head with a fast-paced rhythmic motion. Create a powerful breath with the motion of the arms. The breath is an inhale as the arms extend and an exhale as the arms cross over the head. The breath becomes a steady Breath of Fire.

Time: Continue for 9 minutes.

To End: Without breaking the pace of the exercise, stick the tongue out and down all the way. Continue for 15 seconds more. Then inhale, bring in the tongue and fix the arms at 60 degrees, so that they form an arc around the head with the palms facing down about six inches apart over the head. The hands are still in Lion’s Paws. Hold the breath for 15 seconds. Keep the arms fixed as you exhale and inhale completely. Then hold the breath for 30 seconds. Relax and let the arms down. Meditate at the Heart Center. Follow the gentle flow of the breath. Chant an inspiring and uplifting song.
Continue for 3-5 minutes.
